I was looking at the pond skimmer the other day and noticed the filter sock adapter, and took some inspiration from it.
Using the included media bag, you can stretch it around the lip of the skimmer body, leaving most of the media chamber empty(I have one layer of sponge beneath the bag) the skimmer top then press and twists into place, holding the media bag in place.
I can imagine a 3D printed part that sits between the main body and the top, with a better way to attach a media bag as a skimmer sock, but this works well enough(it's just ugly)
The media bag acts as a skimmer net, or filter sock, catching duckweed and large detritus to be easily dumped out.
This setup doesn't allow for a lot of biofiltration, and is best used as a prefilter for another filter.
Hi,
We've been thinking abput this, and we think that you may like this.
If you do, then email us your address and we will send you one.
We will include this basket in all of our small pond skimmers.

Hi Korodullin,
This is a great idea, and we will start thinking about making an adapter that will make the bag easier to manage.
Another customer achieved similar results by asking us to use a prefilter sponge in the skimmer. We created an adapter that will allow the sponge to be fitted vertiaclly within the skimmer. Please see the photos below:
If you are interested in beta testing this part, then please email us.
Thanks,
Robert Schmidt
